This data ranges from committed emissions to subsidies to fossil fuels and from clean energy investment gaps to emissions embedded in imported goods. The tool is aimed at communicating to a non-technical audience the major challendges, hot spots and criticalities for guiding climate and sustainable development related policy making.<\/p>\n<h4>Global Stocktake Indicator Tool<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/themasites.pbl.nl\/global-stocktake-indicators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Global Stocktake Indicators<\/a><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-634 alignright\" src=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ghg-emissions-world-300x200.png\" alt=\"GSE_image\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The global stocktake indicator tool measures progress towards Paris goals, but not only in terms of greenhouse gas emissions. It shows the implications of the implementation of national climate policies, and how they add up to the greenhouse gas emission reductions needed to keep global warming to well below 2\u02daC or even 1.5\u02daC. These climate policy scenarios can also used as a basis to explore synergies and trade-offs between multiple sustainable development objectives and can be accessed through an interactive <a href=\"\/\/db1.ene.iiasa.ac.at\/CDLINKSDB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">scenario explorer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div>\n<h4>IAMC 1.5\u00b0C Scenario Explorer hosted by IIASA<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/data.ene.iiasa.ac.at\/iamc-1.5c-explorer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IAMC 1.5\u00b0C Scenario Explorer<\/a><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-634 alignright\" src=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/SE_Capture-300x212.png\" alt=\"SE_image\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The CD-LINKS project contributed to the collection and vetting of the scenario ensemble that was assessed in the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5\u00b0C <a href=\"\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/sr15\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(SR1.5)<\/a>. This quantitative, model-based scenario ensemble is accessible through the <a href=\"\/\/data.ene.iiasa.ac.at\/iamc-1.5c-explorer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IAMC 1.5\u00b0C Scenario Explorer<\/a> hosted by IIASA. The scenario ensemble contains more than 400 emissions pathways, which focus on limiting temperature rise to below 1.5\u00b0C or 2\u00b0C above pre-industrial levels, and provide information on the underlying socio-economic development, energy system transformations and land use change until the end of the century, developed by over a dozen research teams from around the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<h4>Climate Policy Database<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/climatepolicydatabase.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">climatepolicydatabase.org\/<\/a><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-634 alignright\" src=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/CPDimage-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"CPDimage\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/CPDimage-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/CPDimage-768x409.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/CPDimage-1024x545.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/CPDimage-500x266.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/CPDimage.jpg 1641w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Climate Policy Database collects information on currently implemented policies related to climate change mitigation from countries worldwide. The objective of the portal is to provide an open, collaborative platform for quick information access, policy analysis and good-practice sharing. It is maintained by NewClimate Institute in collaboration with <a href=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/?page_id=89\">PBL<\/a> and <a href=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/?page_id=93\">Wageningen University<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Energy Investment Tool<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/energy-invest-vis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Energy Investment Tool<\/a><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-634 alignright\" src=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/energy-invest_SDGs-300x197.jpg\" alt=\"EIT_image\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" \/><\/p>\n<p>CD-LINKS researchers have created an interactive visualization tool that illustrates the need to markedly scale up low carbon investments if the world is to achieve the Paris Agreement\u2019s aim of keeping global warming well below 2\u00b0C or even 1.5\u00b0C. The study published in the journal<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41560-018-0179-z\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nature Energy<\/a> is based on scenario analysis from six different integrated assessment models that are part of CD-LINKS.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h4><strong>Country-level Social Cost of Carbon \/ Database Explorer<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/country-level-scc.github.io\/explorer\/\">Country-level Social Cost of Carbon \/ Database Explorer<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/social-cost-of-carbon-ss2_sm.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1798 alignright\" src=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/social-cost-of-carbon-ss2_sm-300x175.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" \/><\/a>The Country-level Social Cost of Carbon Database Explorer presents the work of <a href=\"\/\/doi.org\/10.1038\/s41558-018-0282-y\">Ricke et al.<\/a> (2018). It contains uncertainty bounds under all scenarios, model specifications and discounting schemes. Country-level population and GDP projections are issued from the\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/tntcat.iiasa.ac.at\/SspDb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP) database<\/a>. Gridded climate projections are based on the\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/tntcat.iiasa.ac.at\/RcpDb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP)<\/a>\u00a0and were generated by climate models participating to\u00a0<a href=\"\/\/cmip.llnl.gov\/cmip5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CMIP5<\/a>. By default, the SSP are projected along with the closest RCP in terms of radiative forcing.<\/p>\n<h4>pyam &#8211; Analysis and Visualization of Assessment Models<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/software.ene.iiasa.ac.at\/pyam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Documentation<\/a> | <a href=\"\/\/github.com\/IAMconsortium\/pyam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Source code (github)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/pyam-ss1_sm.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1801 alignright\" src=\"\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/pyam-ss1_sm-300x108.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"108\" \/><\/a>The open-source Python package pyam provides a range of diagnostic tools and functions for analyzing and visualizing data from integrated assessment models. The package has been used in the scenario analysis of the IPCC Special Report on 1.5\u00b0C (SR15) and the harmonisation of emission timeseries data in the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6). The features of pyam allow to easily perform and share such analysis for greater transparency and reproducibility, for example using Jupyter notebooks.The package has been designed according to best practices of scientific software development, including automatic documentation, unit testing, and continuous integration.<\/p>\n<p>Scientific reference: Matthew J.
