{"id":1254,"date":"2018-04-23T15:48:41","date_gmt":"2018-04-23T13:48:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/?p=1254"},"modified":"2018-05-02T10:15:09","modified_gmt":"2018-05-02T08:15:09","slug":"cd-links-side-event-at-unfccc-sbsta-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/?p=1254","title":{"rendered":"CD-LINKS side event at UNFCCC SBSTA 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> May 18:30-20:00 CD-LINKS will be holding a side event at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (<a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/\">UNFCCC<\/a>)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/process\/conferences\/bonn-climate-change-conference-april-2018\/sessions\/sbsta-48\">48<sup>th<\/sup> session<\/a> of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA 48).<\/p>\n<p>Combining analysis from the COMMIT and CD-LINKS projects, and the work of <a href=\"https:\/\/newclimate.org\/\">NewClimate Institute<\/a> on the implementation of <a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/process-and-meetings\/the-paris-agreement\/nationally-determined-contributions-ndcs\">Nationally Determined Contributions<\/a>, the event is an opportunity to discuss with negotiators and reflect on credible low-emission pathways.<\/p>\n<p>The event is titled \u2018Towards long-term national scenarios: Modelling meets policy\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1256 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Georhraphical-reach-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"598\" height=\"319\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Georhraphical-reach-1.jpg 598w, https:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Georhraphical-reach-1-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.cd-links.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Georhraphical-reach-1-500x267.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 598px) 100vw, 598px\" \/><em>Geographical reach of CD-LINKS project, created with mapchart.net<\/em><\/p>\n<p>SBSTA is one of two permanent subsidiary bodies of the UNFCCC. It provides timely information and advice on scientific and technological matters, with key areas including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/topics\/resilience\/workstreams\/nairobi-work-programme\/introduction\">the\u00a0impacts, vulnerability and adaptation to climate change<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/unfccc.int\/ttclear\/\">promoting the development and transfer of environmentally-sound technologies<\/a>,\u00a0and<\/li>\n<li>conducting technical work to improve the\u00a0<a style=\"font-style: inherit;\" href=\"https:\/\/unfccc.int\/process\/transparency-and-reporting\/greenhouse-gas-data\/ghg-data-unfccc\/ghg-data-from-unfccc\">guidelines for preparing and reviewing greenhouse gas emission inventories from Annex I Parties<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>SBSTA 48 will take place from 30 April to 10 May 2018, in Bonn, Germany, with the side event taking place in the Berlin Room.
